Welcome to Lumio β€” the leading money management app for couples in the UK.

You can also view a recording of how to get started below. Or scroll down to keep reading...

Here’s a quick guide to help you set up Lumio and start managing money together with confidence.

Why use Lumio?

Most couples split expenses across different personal accounts, credit cards, and joint accounts. That makes it hard to see the full picture. Lumio solves this by giving you one source of truth for all your personal and shared money.

With Lumio, you can:

  • Track shared bills, expenses, and subscriptions in one place.

  • Spot wasteful costs and save more together.

  • Stay financially independent while enjoying the benefits of a joint account.

Your two spaces in Lumio

Lumio is designed around two spaces:

πŸ™‹ Private Space – Track your personal spending, accounts, and bills. Share only the expenses you want to with your partner.

πŸ§‘β€πŸ€β€πŸ§‘ Shared Space – Track joint expenses, bills, and accounts in one place. Perfect for household costs, date nights, or shared goals.

Tabs inside each space

Each space has four tabs to help you stay on top of your money:

  1. Home – Your personalised snapshot, with setup checklist, balances, insights, transactions, and upcoming bills.

  2. Spending – Breakdown of total spending, everyday costs (groceries, dining, Amazon, etc.), recurring bills, cashflow, and your IOU tracker.

  3. Transactions – A full list of payments. You can choose to share or unshare them with your partner.

  4. Accounts – All linked accounts, your net worth, assets, and debts. You can even track progress over three years.

Step 1: Create your Lumio account

Download Lumio from the App Store or Google Play and sign up.

Step 2: Invite your partner

Send your partner an invite so you can set up your Shared Space together.

Step 3: Connect your accounts

To get the full picture, connect the accounts you use most:

  • Your main personal bank account

  • Any active credit cards

  • Any joint accounts

πŸ‘‰ When linking a joint account, make sure you:

  • Mark it as a Joint Account

  • Link it to your Shared Space

Step 4: Set up your spending cycle

Sync your spending to your payday so you have a clear view of income vs. outgoings.

Step 5: Share expenses and bills

From your Private Space, share any household bills or joint transactions to your Shared Space. This creates a single source of truth for all your shared spending.

Step 6: Add recurring costs

Add any subscriptions, bills, or direct debits so Lumio can track them automatically.

Step 7: Adjust your IOU split

On the Spending tab, set your preferred ratio for the IOU tracker (e.g. 50/50, 60/40). Lumio will do the maths so you always know who owes who β€” and how much.

βœ… You’re all set! With Lumio, you’ll have a clear view of your money β€” both as individuals and as a couple.

πŸ’‘ Tip: The more accounts you connect, the more accurate your financial picture will be.
